There's no catch. As designers ourselves we know what you go through and we just want to be able to help you get more opportunities and put some of the fun back into being a designer. That's why, outside of the small $25 application fee, it is completely free to be a designer with us, no matter how many times you're on the truck.

There is! As designers we know that the most exciting and mentally stimulating part of our field is the actual schematic design process, when anything is possible. We wanted that to be the focus for our truck. It is the most invigorating part for designers, most tangible part to discuss with a client, and something that can be accomplished within in an hour, at least at a schematic level.

The short answer: No. You may be a designer as many times as you would like, all still for free. If you would like to only come once, that's fine. If you'd like to come every weekend, that's fine too. That said, we do limit everyone to just one day until all qualifying designers have been assigned a day, then those interested in more days may sign up to participate as many times as they like until the schedule is full.

No. There is absolutely no commitment required on the part of the designers. If you just wanted to come do this for a day to have some fun and help give people some good design ideas, that's perfectly fine. However, if you'd like to continue on with clients that you meet, that's great too. Clients fill out a form after their meeting and let us know if they'd like to continue with their designer, if so we then pass along their information to you and vice versa.

Absolutely!! This is one of the aspects we're most proud of with this idea. Unlike competitions, and other settings, we give you 6 real life meetings and design consultations that, if the clients like what they see in that hour, can lead to real life contracts and projects with them.

Unlike with competitions and other events our time commitments aren't weeks or months long, they're equivalent to just one work day. The actual amount of time you're required to work on the truck will depend upon the event that the truck is parked at and it's operating hours. For our planning purposes we have assumed we would be parked at all day farmers markets on weekends, where a designer would work roughly from 9-6, have 6 meetings, with a 30 min break in between each meeting and an hour lunch break in the middle.

Definitely!! This is the other aspect that we're most proud of with Design Driven. We wanted to bring the fun back into the Design industry, rather than focus it on the minutiae that we tend to get stuck working on. We wanted a day on the truck to be one of the most fun experiences that you can have as a designer and to leave feeling refreshed and inspired. Whether you just want to come as a break from your regular office job, or are actually hoping to get some new clients, we promise one thing...you'll have a lot of fun doing it!
